Baptiste Debombourg

AGGRAVURE
The protagonist Icarus, the Mannerism of the Renaissance and the symbol of sublime power Air Force One (the official plane of the President of the USA) are the main points in this work. The combination of pathos, beauty and unnatural movement of Italian Mannerists, is concealing some kind of aggression.
Is it why this “Superman” is directly flying down the earth ?
Here tackers are used as a material and a media, which are playing with the contemporary agression and the profane utility of the everyday life.

For a long time, engraving has been the only technique allowing the wide-spreading of images. Its history is a succession of technical developments and is also strongly characterized by the increasing use of images and thus, by the evolution of their function (lithography, photography, serigraphy), have gradually expanded the range and potential of expression in 20th century art .

What I find most interesting in Mannerist engraving, is the representation developed around mythological and religious themes and their potential echoes in today's super-heroes, bodybuilders... and the violence of "Male-Power cult “.

I then use some images by "worsening" the scale, the form or the context to produce an installation in the architecture by means of staples. The recurring theme in these paintings revolves around the collapse that resonates with staples. Here the staple is a material and a media that plays with contemporary aggression and daily life’s secular usefulness.

He calls the practice “my kung fu” and adds, “When I started this, the nail gun was just a nail gun.  Now it’s turned into a brush.”.

His ways of art work reminds me of violence because its the process of making art like this, creating a bang to each nail to the canvas. It's like a crime that a murderer would commit because of its aggression, the violent sound and the harsh movement of the nail slicing through the wood. It's impressive work to see these amazing outcomes, due to the size of the nail to the scale of the work.

Ho-Ryon Lee

Korean artist Ho-Ryon Lee’s pieces are classified as paintings, although they look much closer to photography. Indeed, he paints on canvas but the previous process includes the artist taking several photos of the model in a specific pose and composing them together via Photoshop. The suggestive and dynamic of his overlapping images, skirt flirts in this case with a highly erotic component, make them visually delightful. Through seduction and voyeurism, revealing and hiding, the object of desire is shown.

The artist really captures the human's movement by the other faded movements, I think it passes off as sexual due to the positions of the hands lifting the skirt up, it's like a tease to the public. But I like the style of it because of the help of photoshop, but to actually paint it is the main skill behind it.

during my exploratory stage we went on a graffiti art tour in east london. the tour guide exposed us to a whole new art style and art life, the reasons why its a different art life is because it's illegal to produce pieces of art on the public street. As we thought we were allowed to produce art pieces on our school ground, we came up with ideas to represent anything we could think of. so by doing so I create this piece where this little monkey is painting his future, to be a bigger and successfull person a.k.a the gorilla.

after exploring the graffiti stage I continued a little more because when I went to the graffiti art tour, I was inspired to have a go at it. I remember drawing an astronaut and a fence player together because they both have white suits and so I thought what would it look like if it was all orange, bright orange. so I came up with the idea of A.T.N (Ass. Tro. Naaaat). I decided to draw it on a big sheet of wood in school but I suddenly began to dislike it because it didn't give off the street art vibe. so I began to go out with a friend to put up my work around my neighbourhood.

Grayson Perry

Here is some of his work that would relate to my work because of the images that remain on the handmade pot. As you can see there are people and buildings and that's what's going it have in mine, but it's about Balham tube station instead
From this photo I've created a connection about the resemblance on how this pot includes landscape, as well does mine, due to the theme of the Balham Bombing in WW1. My pot is still in progress and from what I saw from the firing, it looks great and I can't wait till I finish it.

Street art

original A.T.N
Due to the street art tour, I came across a street artist called Mr. Penfold and his work was very inspirational by the bold outlines of his street art characters and the bright colours, this made his work to me, very eye catching and it stood out to all of the other street artists that we flew past the tour. taking to mind I wanted to create a street art character myself and so previously I drew an astronaut getting hit by the fencer and saying in a speech bubble "DUDE WTF?" because their both wearing white suits with big helmets on, making the fencer look stupid. so by taking that piece of art work, I wondered what if the astronaut looked like if the suit was in orange and from there I created a little drawing of it and redrew the drawing on computer and started to print and stick up around my area.

Some of my designs are based on my brothers and I, the reason why is because I love my brothers and I want them to be involved into my work, you can say they're my inspiration to make funny and wacky designs. They both think its cool, so in my eyes I've already made it.
First of My Kind
I call this the 'First of My Kind' because this was the first step for my in this industry and I felt that I made a mark in my area to say to the rest of the neighbourhood that there's an artist among us and I want this place to be exciting, instead of grey.

In Action
I decided to cover my identity by drawing over my face by making me the astronaut
Mail This
In this design, its me and my older brother Marco when we were kids. The reason why I picked this photo of me and my brother is because we look like we're having so much fun and by adding the astronaut helmets on makes it funny because it looks like we're doing some investigation on the moon, when it's just two kids playing with the Little Tikes Cozy

The First Climb
Even though it wasn't that hard to climb, it was hard to keep balance with the roller and the design and you can see how I rushed it, by the air gaps.

I don't do coins, Images only.
This was only an experiment due to finding out if that anything flat is a good thing, which was a success because it's still up there. I've had ideas to cover the unwanted phone box full with different designs or to just make a big design to wrap around it.

new designs, new day
After getting this prints I planed throughout the week where I'm going to stick them on. Later that day I went to the areas and stuck them on.

My little Troopers
Even by just placing the same image in a line gave me an idea to place them next to each other on the streets. I forgot all about it when I was sticking the other images up, because it's such a rush to stick them down and move on to the next. I only did two next to each other.

Going for a walk
It was so fun working with the foot prints because it made me think about the foot prints on the moon and before placing down I had to find a grey wall or something to do with the colour grey because it had to work with the image and to just give a little smile on people's faces because it's something nice and funny to look at.

Clown Rhino
Originally with the clown-like Rhino, which lead me to another design of a clown-like Bull and I so happen to like the clown-like Bull more than this design. this black wall is made out of man made wood because it's all compressed, which is tricky to work on at times and I feel like I have a war going on with the wall because the people that own it, somehow always rip it off as I add another harmless piece on.

Spreading the name
I'm a good boy and I don't want anyone to get lost by not having the road name on the sign because of my design. So I place it on the other side where people are more likely to see it by walking past it.
At Work 'The Climb'
As again, this is me at work and on another sign. Its pretty high up, but easy to climb. It was fun doing because for this one when your further away you can still see it, as of the image below.
stood out 'Original A.T.N'
Seeing Double
Even though the original images have been torn off a little bit, I will either gather up the same image and paste all over it or I will make a funny image of the astronaut shouting out "why?!" next to it.
At Work 'Just Keep Rolling'
I had to edit the photo by using an app for instagram on the iPad (add me on Instagram atnart), which is always going to be the same but in a different angle. I personally like this edited version other than the original photo because it just makes it look more cool and interesting.
